Finding a Good Deal on a Camera Bag

- The Internet – A multitude of Web sites exist that compare prices on similar products. Search a few of these and be very specific about your prospective camera bag. That way, you won’t click and receive a list of 10,000 bags that you must browse through. Remember: Time is money. If it takes you a full day to save $5 on a camera bag, the effort is not worth the trouble. Let those search engines do the work they were intended to do. Once you’ve found a few bags, don’t immediately select the cheapest one. Look for a site that can guarantee the safety of your purchasing information. If the site does not look professional, don’t chance it. Too many hackers exist who prey off online shoppers by listing products for a deep discount. Also, make sure to notice what the shipping charges will be. It does you no good to pay $25 for a camera bag if you are hit with $35 in shipping charges.
- Local camera stores – If you are a professional photographer, you have likely frequented these. Go back. Those who are steady customers will often get a price break. These establishments are also ideal for the novice photographer. Experts who love their craft and enjoy helping others perfect theirs surround you here. Establish a relationship with the staff, and your skill set (and your pocketbook) may thank you. Besides camera bags, local camera stores usually sell a wide range of equipment. Plus, the employees can actually teach you how to use it.
- Big Box stores – They may be huge and impersonal, but the warehouse value store can be ideal for the camera bag shopper. Just don’t expect the selection to vary much in terms of accessories. If you have a need for different-shaped pockets, weatherproofing, portability or hard encasement, you may not find it here. Still, it’s worth a trip. Check the store’s inventory online before you spend the gas money.
