When Video and Internet games take over.
By Victoria Kelley - Jul 30, 2008
Video games whilst fun to play are extremely addictive and every parent should be keeping an eye on the clock and their child.
There is always that extra honor point or item you have to try and get.
The idea of getting killed in the process of playing a game makes kids anxious and changes their behavior. Kids can get so worked up when they fail and I have seen my own child break down over one of these games.
Like most parents I thought it was just harmless fun but I have seen a darker side of this online role playing games and video games in our homes. My eldest son became a victim to online game playing and would spend hours and hours playing his characters. It was always about the gear and raiding in dungeons.
He spent early morning hours while I slept playing these games. Most of the time I thought he was asleep and getting his much needed rest too. WRONG!
I woke up one morning at 6am and went into his room to find out he had been up all night playing this game. I knew at that moment I had to make some drastic changes. I had to wean him off the game and he was very disagreeable for quite some time with me.I tell you he was addicted.
I only tell you this because it may be happening with your own child.
These games steal our children's humanity and games can desensitize them to violence. They will not eat (if they do, it's in front of the game), They will not exercise and become withdrawn from making friends outside of other gamers.
I do not say get rid of the games but monitor what they are playing and put a time limit on it.
Games are not baby sitters! Our children need us to teach them how to live, not sit them in front of the TV to play games.
They are our future of tomorrow. What will you be teaching them?
18 months ago I sat down and wrote a marvelous book with the help of my husband and the most incredible array of powerful, beautiful and enlightened beings called "The Collective."
This book contains many channeled writings from The Collective that bring a message of hope, love and joy to mankind.
A way of living that embraces positive changes for everyone and hope for our future.
The book Catch Falling Stars deals with issues from self help, relationships, families, universal laws and spirituality.
There are many wonderful teachings in this book that will help heal anyone who takes The Collectives words into their heart.
We all deserve peace, love and happy families in our lives.
Our children deserve that we set the example to them as well.
There are many secrets woven into Catch Falling Stars through the personalized writings from "The Collective."
Read it and find out for yourself.
Many Blessings
Victoria
