The rebate checks are coming but ACTION IS REQUIRED by all Americans before you receive your check. Because the checks are based on your 2007 income, no checks will be mailed until you have filed your 2007 tax return (due April 15, 2008). Check amounts will be $300, $600 or $1,200, plus $300 per child. There is more information on how to file your 2007 tax return at no charge at the very bottom of this message. Even if you are not normally required to file a tax return, you must do so this year if you want to receive the rebate checks.

You can file your 2007 taxes as early as right now through the IRS's e-file program. When you e-file, you can get your refund deposited to your bank account in as little as 8 days. Do it online right now. If you are filing a return this year solely to get your economic stimulus payment, you can do it free through e-file.

Remember: Your rebate check is based on your 2007 income. You must let the government know if you are single, married, how many kids you have and how much you earned last year (minimum $3,000) so they can calculate your check amount and get it out to you.
