On the surface, to practice yoga for its physical benefits seems to ignore the broader benefits of the mind/body union. Healing the physical body, however, is a significant step on the road to enlightenment, a concept that is at the core of yoga. The postures focus on conditioning the entire body through poses that create balance, flexibility and lower body strength.
