Energy Saving and Soft Lighting

As electric lighting developed over the years it replaced old sources of light such as gas and candle light. Electric light bulbs were more convenient and safer. Countless fires were started by knocked over or dropped candles. However, candle light is still enjoyed for the ambience it creates. Electric light can be harsh and unflattering while candle light is soft and becoming. So some bulbs were created that looked and worked like candles. They are usually a lower wattage, can be dimmed, and some even have a flickering effect. These days, manufacturers are creating energy saving candle bulbs to comply with the new environmental standards.
Many people use decorative light fixtures in their homes that suit candles, such as chandeliers, pendant lights, and some kinds of ceiling fans. Today we can choose energy efficient bulbs, which come in lower wattages. When we use energy saving candle light bulbs at around seven watts (which are comparable to the old bulbs of 25 watts) each will help to reduce energy bills over the life of the bulb. When updating fixtures with new energy saving candle light bulbs, it is important to note the bulb base. Many lamps which use candle light bulbs require bulbs with a certain base. If you cannot find the correct style, you should purchase a base adapter so you can fit bulbs safely to your sockets. Also, only specialist dimmer bulbs should be used in dimming fixtures.
Candle lighting is also used in the hospitality industry, at inns, hotels and restaurants. Businesses can benefit from replacing inefficient bulbs with energy saving candle light bulbs. Candle light bulbs can be found in the traditional lower wattage while still conserving energy. For example, instead of 20W bulbs, you can use 1.7W energy saving candle light bulbs which are built with twenty LEDs. These can be left on for extended periods of time so they are great for bars or restaurants. Some are also designed with at wide beam angle of 120 degrees, so they can be used in many areas.
As these new bulbs become more common, it is easier to find exactly what you need for all your lamps. The new bulbs, including candle light bulbs, can be found in the lighting section of most hardware and home improvement stores. And many manufacturers have online stores where you can easily shop and have your items posted to you. While it may take a little time and effort, you will be rewarded with cost savings and the knowledge that you are getting the most out of your light sources.
