Getting Your Sales Out Of The Rut
By Lynne Saarte - Feb 24, 2010
Well, right now, it is just not the same. You feel you cannot seem to get things right and you are almost at the brink of closing down your business.
If you feel this way right now, let me tell you that you are not alone. There are others out there who are in the same rut as you are. The good news is that you can actually haul yourself out the gutter. How?
First and foremost, you need to know why you are in the rut in the first place. What do you think caused your sales to go down?
According to expert sales trainers, there are three causes in the drastic decline in the sales. One, you might have a change in your work habits. This means that over time, you were changing what you used to be doing that made you successful in the first place. Or you might also have stopped prospecting just because you believed that you had enough customers and clients to last you a lifetime.
Another reason why you are in a rut is maybe you had a change in your personal belief about your capacity to generate sales. Your firm belief to make every sale had waned a great deal and you are now left with the idea that it would take a miracle for you to ever make the sale. Lastly, you also had a change of belief in your company as well as your product or service.
So while you are trying to figure out which of these three caused your situation, you need to isolate these issues and correct them if you really want to get back on track with your sales.
And a few suggestions might also help you. Here are some advices from sales coaches:
1- Start prospecting again. Go out and talk to target clients. Start your brochure printing again and distribute your print brochures to your prospects. Remember that the more prospects you get in touch with, the easier it would be for you to market your business again. You would be more comfortable; hence, you would be more confident in yourself, your business and your offer. This would mean more sales for you.
2- Readjust and change your current beliefs. And start eliminating those that hamper you from believing in what you can do. It would not be easy but the more you revamp your mental attitude the faster for you to get on track again with your sales strategies.
3- Stop going to bitching sessions. If you are in a rut, stop surrounding yourself with negativity. This means avoiding other people and peers that complain about their own failing situations.
Finally, just get yourself out of the slump you have put yourself into. Take a direct and positive action to alleviate both your mind and your body. And you will find yourself getting back on the action of getting more sales than you have ever gotten before.
