Tips for Choosing Your Wedding Caterer
By Beverly Huffine - Nov 18, 2009
The biggest expense in a wedding often goes to the Catering service. It’s one of the details of the wedding that the guests get an actual taste of, literally. Some of the guests may forget about your wedding dress, the photographer, the favors, or the wedding car, but they will often remember whether they ate good food on your wedding.
Below are some tips that could help you in choosing the Catering service for your wedding or for any important event.
* Cost. Decide on your budget. Before actually going to food-tasting events hosted by Catering services, it’s best to make an initial list of your options based on the usual cost of caterers. These caterers often have price ranges. There are some who cater to those who have limited budget while there are some who cater to high-end occasions. Research on the caterers that would fall within your price range so that you have an initial list.
* Food Tasting. Never skip the food tasting. Aside from other things that come with their service, the food is still the primary product you are paying for. Make sure the food they will serve is to your liking. Before finalizing your menu, make sure that you’ve tasted each dish.
* Supplies. Clarify the supplies that the caterer will be providing. You don’t want to be surprised that basic buffet arrangements are not included in the package.
* Food Preparation. Clarify also whether the food will be prepared in their kitchen or whether they prefer to use the kitchen in the reception if there’s any.
* Left-over. Sometimes, there are foods that will not be served or eaten. Ask whether they will pack these and give them to you.
* Cleaning up. Ask whether they are also the ones who will be cleaning up after the event.
