The Neighborhoods
Buyers would have to first understand the real estate market and do some research to find out Chicago information before they begin house hunting. Lake Michigan is located to the east and there are four separate sections in the city, Central, North, South and West Chicago. Given below is some valuable Chicago information on these sections:
Central Chicago
Central Chicago is the historic downtown of the city also known as the Loop. The real estate properties which can be found in this part of the city are mainly penthouses, apartments and studios. Also, most properties in this area are quite expensive since they are all situated close to the city life and the attractions in the downtown area. The Loop is bordered on the east by Lake Michigan while Chicago River is on the west. The prices in the tall skyscrapers tend to be even higher but those looking for a house which provides them a nice view of the city can find no better place than the downtown.
North Chicago
Northern Chicago is also a very popular area for potential house buyers. The number of house sales in this part of the city continued to rise even through the housing slump. This part of the city is beautiful and quiet and is dotted with many parks and public beaches. The neighborhoods in Northern Chicago include Lake View, Lincoln Park, Old Town and Gold Coast. The rates of properties in this area too are quite high. However, those who want an affordable property can find one further away from city center.
West Chicago
Western Chicago is known for its amazing ethnic diversity. The neighborhoods in this part include Garfield Park, Austin, Lawndale and Wicker Park. However, in some of these neighborhoods crime has risen over the past few years. It is best to do some research on the neighborhood in Western Chicago before considering a property.
South Chicago
South Chicago neighborhoods have a reputation for poverty and crime though there are a few affluent neighborhoods in this part of the city. This part of the city covers almost 60% area of Chicago and is home to Washington Park and Jackson Park, the largest parks in the city.
No matter what neighborhood or locality you choose in Chicago it is fairly easy to get around the city since there are several great public transportation modes in the city. The school systems, the neighborhoods and the prices are some factors which would have to be considered while purchasing a property in Chicago.
