An online version of a printed publication is known as online newspaper. It is also termed as web newspaper. It is very similar to a general newspaper whose existence is on the Internet.
Being online is a better opportunity for the newspapers. Presenting the news in timelier manner, an online newspaper can easily compete with the broadcast journalism. Strengthening the chances of survival, the credibility of well settled printed publications is also seen in newspaper industry. Online publication can also helps in decreasing printing costs as compared to printed publications. There are several advantages of blogs for the professional journalists.
Apart from that, online newspapers also have some legal boundaries like printed publications like privacy & copyright etc. These legal boundaries are also applicable to online newspapers in UK. For the UK based online newspapers, to formally regulate the news video and news audio websites, a ruling was passed in 2007. To write in the concise manner and for video shooting, news reporters are already being taught.
To incorporate the internet into every aspect of the operations of newspapers like classified advertisements for both online and print media, and reporters writing stories which appears on both media; some newspapers have already attempted.
The future of online newspapers is been widely debated these days. Some says that since the printed newspaper industry is facing some serious problems like fall in newspaper prices, loss of classified advertising, slumping ad sales etc, online publication is going to hit the pinnacle very soon. In recent years as severe cutbacks have raised more and many newspapers lined up for closure, there is a great chance for the online publications to spruce in the upcoming years.
A person can effortlessly get the news and can get updated from the online newspapers. So it is needless to carry the daily newspapers and local newspapers which is the major cause for the downfall of printed publications.
